After NextUp, Next Chef and Next Trainer, What’s Next? You tell us!

One of the most rewarding projects I worked on in 2011 was the Next Creator program (comprised of YouTube NextUp, YouTube Next Chef, and YouTube Next Trainer), which has catapulted 91 content creators’ careers across 15 different countries by providing them with production and audience development training, new video equipment, heavy promotion on and off the platform, and mentoring by leading movers like YouTube stars DeStorm, FreddieW and Michelle Phan and industry experts like Chow.com and Billy Blanks.

But what’s next for the Next Creator program? There are still millions of creators who could benefit from participating in the program, so we’re excited to continue to expand the program further. That’s where YOU come in! We'd like to hear which type of content we should launch for the next round. Maybe you're a budding beauty guru and want to see YouTube Next Beautician; or, perhaps you're a habitual big personality vlogger and have been waiting for YouTube Next Vlogger.

Whatever you want to see next, let us know by voting on some categories and by suggesting your own here. You may vote and submit as many as you’d like before February 19th. We'll then evaluate the top-voted suggestions and bring some of these to you this year!

2012 is going to be an incredibly exciting year for YouTube creators. Stay tuned for more initiatives that will empower you to take your YouTube career to the next level--coming very soon!

  3. Right now it HAS TO BE Next great Visual Artist. There is a movement underway to advocate for a visual arts category on YouTube!

  6. I submitted this but I also wanted to post it here in the comments....

    I would love to see Next for vlogging and specifically daily vloggers. Some money would help us travel and do more things our viewers love to see us do. It would also be great to help some up and coming daily vloggers like my girlfriend and I get some exposure.

    Tech Reviewers/Bloggers would be also be a great thing to help out. If you aren't already making money reviewing tech products its hard to get started on your own if you can't put money into buying new products. I think there could also be some great courses on how to reach out to companies and get products as well how to present yourself to be professional and express your thoughts on products. There are so many small tech bloggers wanting to be as big as myself and a few of the other top few and I think they could do it with some help.

  7. I would definitely love to see 'YouTube NextUp Tech Reviewers" or "YouTube NextUp Reviewers"! It takes a lot of work to present professional video reviews on products (etc) and it's a youtube niche that's often over looked - yet such a big part of the community. YouTube is a place where people often search for information, rather than google searching for information on products they are considering purchasing, they search for youtube videos of the products in action and are also able to hear someone's personal opinion on the product. It's very difficult to present professional review videos with a low budget. Or to review items without cash for that matter! This opportunity would be a great help to the tech reviewing community.

  9. Hi there! Here is my sugestion. I would like to have the possibility to have a custom thumbnail in my videos so that I can improve my audience. In fact, I believe that if I had an accuract video thumbnail in all my videos that could represent the real content of the video, more people would click on them. Instead, by providing only 3 images of the all video, sometimes, it doens't represent the video content at all. Minimum (choose any frame from the video)!!!

    But, because you don't want everyone to create thumbnails with images of something that doens't represent the video itself, (like hot cheecks for videos of microchips), why not allow people that use youtube very professionaly (like me) to upgrade the account so that I can create my custom thumbnail.

    I don't have millions of views but if I had accurate thumbnails that represents my work and video I for sure have more. If one guy get's millions of views get's publicity and all the extras from you, why can't a small artist, but no less important, shoudn't have also, all the good stuff you have available?

    I am not playing, my youtube channel is part of my work where I use it as portfolio.

    1. they did that before, but people would cheat
      even when they changed it, people would still cheat
      youtube has no way of knowing who to trust
      so it is random to be fair to everyone

  10. I think a category like "next male beauty guru" or some thing like this could be helpful. I don´t know if other users think so, but for my way on youtube, this could be a big step.

  11. me thinks singers already ready have plenty of 'channels' to follow, singers have tv shows, cable shows, internet shows and websites, contests, etc...

    what about the songs they sing? has anyone seen anything for songwriters... the unsung heroes

  12. Could you do next Educator?

    Like, where people do screencasts of them teaching people.

    The original use for the internet was for people to use it as a way to educate and share scientific papers (professors and such)

    Bring that back around, with a YT creators Education sector. But maybe limit it to people that arent part of a huge company (Eg. not Khan academy etc)
